Peter works harder than John. -------> X
Peter works hard than John. ----------> O
副詞與形容詞一樣,都可以用來比較事物,而且都有比較級和最高級。
Δ 副詞一般多以加上“more“來構成比較級,加上“most“構成最高級。
quickly(快速地) -> more quickly -> most quickly
Kenny eats quickly.
Joe eats more quickly than Kenny.
Benny eats the most quickly.
Δ 一些單音節的副詞須加上“er“來構成比較級,加上“est“構成最高級。
fast(快地) -> faster -> fastest
near(近地) -> nearer -> nearest
hard(努力地) -> harder -> hardest
far(遠地) -> farther -> farthest
Δ 有些副詞的比較級和最高級是不規則變化的。
badly(壞地) -> worse -> worst
well(好地) -> better -> best
