回答問題時常會錯用時態，因為忽略了問題的時態，並非顯示在動詞中，而是顯示在助動詞中，於是作答便沒有把動詞改成適當的形式，以致犯了文法的錯誤。這種情況在<簡單過去式>及<簡單現在式>的第三人稱單數時最常見。
Where did you have dinner? I had dinner at Golden Lotus Restaurant.
How often does she water the flowers? She waters the flowers once a week.
What do you do on Sundays? I go to church on Sundays.
