Δ 英文正確用法指引(二) - 45 程度副詞

Don't eat too many French fries. You'll get ill. -----> O
Don't eat so many French fries. You'll get ill. ------> O
Don't eat very many French fries. You'll get ill. -----> X

副詞“too“、“so“、“very“都可用來表示程度,但用法和意思都有些分別:
Δ too 可解釋為 < 太/過分 > ,可用在形容詞、副詞及“many/much“之前。
Δ so 可解釋為 < 這麼/那麼 > ,也可用在形容詞、副詞及“many/much“之前。
Δ very 可解釋為 < 很/非常 > ,多用在形容詞和副詞之前,但也可用在“much“之前,以構成感謝用語:Thank you very much.,卻不能用在“many“之前。因此,不能在“many“前面用“very“,而要用“too many...“或“so many...“來表示。

My uncle was very fat when he was young.

下面的副詞也可用來表示程度,他們多放在要描述的字詞前:
quite 幾、頗、相當 / almost 幾乎、差不多 / fairly 相當、頗
nearly 幾乎、差不多 / completely 完全 / partly 部份 / any 絲毫、一點
