There aren't any eggs in the fridge. -----> O
There aren't some eggs in the fridge. ----> X

There is a little salt in the shaker. ------> O
There is a few salt in the shaker. -------> X

要表示物件的數量，除了可用“a ... of“和“many/much“外，還可以用“any“、“some“、“a little“、“a few“、“a lot of“、“several“等字，但這些字的意思和用法並不相同。

any : 任何，可數或不可數名詞，多用於否定句和問句。
some : 一些，可數或不可數名詞，一般用於直述句，有時用於問句。
a little : 很少，不可數名詞。
a few : 很少，可數名詞。
a lot of : 很多，可數或不可數名詞。
several : 幾個，可數名詞。

Is there any jelly in the fridge? Yes, there is some jelly.
The poor old man has only a little money left so I give him a few dollars.
I can see a lot of cars on the road, but there are several policemen controlling the traffic.
